Background

This is a country band song. I wrote this while trying to understand why someone would push a relationship along, and then just walk away. The song has vocal, harmony vocal, acoustic guitars, pedal steel, harmonica, drums, and electric bass.

You Said

You said you rode horses, you said you drove trucks
Said you were a cowboy who'd run out of luck
You said all the things I was hungry to hear
You said I had nothing to fear

(Chorus)
Why did you ask me to dance with you
If you can't keep dancing till the song is through
Don't you know I have feelings too
Well I do

You said you played guitar, you said you read books
You said you liked sleeping outside in the woods
You said all the things I was hungry to hear
You said I had nothing to fear

You said you were lonely, you said you were cold
Said you wanted children a wife and a home
You said all the things I was hungry to hear
You said I had nothing to fear

You said I was pretty, said you liked my dress
You said you'd be kind when you took me to bed
You said all the things I was hungry to hear
You said I had nothing to fear
