Background

This song is a band piece about divorce, which is very painful no matter which side of it you are on. After losing the support of most of my friends and family I had a need to tell my side of the story. This was not meant to be a bitter or vindictive tune, I really tried to be honest. The song has vocal, harmony vocal, acoustic guitars, 12 string guitar, electric bass, and drums.

Get A Life

Release your claim on me
You're just too bitter to see
That I don't owe you a thing
I'll even give you back your ring
Now I don't need much money
But I have some news for you honey
I won't spend the rest of my life
Living with you in your college style

(Chorus)
Leave me alone get a life
I am no longer your wife
I have this little piece of paper saying so
Well I was young and I was blind
But you're no longer on my mind
You had your chance to hold me and you let me go

You were always right I was wrong
But darlin' look who's writing this song
If you're so perfect tell me why
You can't even look me in the eye
And now you've got all our friends
You won them over at the end
I'm looking back and I see
You fought harder for them than me

You criticized everything I did
And told me I acted like a kid
Always the problems were mine
Baby I won't be wasting no more time
Now you think the kids should be yours
That they don't need a mother anymore
Well as long as I'm alive I will try
To give them all the feelings you deny
